Grading Standards
Our Iroko lumber is graded according to international standards, primarily the FAS (First and Seconds) grading system, which is the highest standard grade for hardwood lumber.
FAS grade ensures minimum board dimensions and a high percentage of clear, defect-free wood on each piece. This grade is preferred by international buyers for premium applications in construction, furniture manufacturing, and architectural woodwork.
FAS Grade Features
- Minimum 83.3% clear face cuttings
- Suitable for premium applications
- Consistent quality across shipments
- Meets EU and Asian import standards
- EU Compliance: Material prepared for EUDR (EU Deforestation Regulation) due diligence and legality reporting.
- Asian Market Quality: Selected for high heartwood content and consistent golden-brown grain, ideal for high-end furniture and marine joinery common in Asian and European manufacturing.
Moisture Content
Our air drying process brings Iroko lumber to an optimal moisture content of 18-22%, suitable for international shipping and further processing. Air drying preserves the natural properties of the wood while reducing weight for cost-effective transportation.
Buyers requiring lower moisture content can kiln dry the lumber upon arrival. Air dried Iroko responds well to kiln drying and maintains its structural integrity throughout the process.
